The primary goal of cardiac rehabilitation is to help patients achieve optimal physical, psychological, and social well‑being through personalized exercise training, education, and risk‑factor management. Patients attend 2–3 times per week for 4–6 weeks, giving you the time and continuity to impact lives in a truly lasting way. Educate, motivate, and empower patients as they recover and thrive.

Schedule & Perks

• Monday–Friday | 7:45 AM – 4:15 PM
• No holidays — our department is closed
• Some weekend inpatient shifts may be required
• Maximum of 1 weekend every 8 weeks

Responsibilities

• Utilizes scientific principles to develop exercise prescriptions. Monitors client’s response to exercise and adjusts treatment plan accordingly.
• Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
• Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills specific to the rehabilitation specialty in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.
• Utilizes holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the individuals served.
• Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare team members within their scope of practice and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Assess and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s and their families’ specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
• Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.
• Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
  
  

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  
  

Experience:

• Two years acute clinical experience required. One year in critical care or telemetry preferred.
  
  

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current RN licensure in good standing to practice as an RN in Iowa
• Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire.
• Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
