Responsibilities
- Perform polysomnographic studies including:
- Diagnostic PSG
- Split-night PSG
- CPAP/BiPAP/ASV titration
- Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT)
- Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT)
- Type III home sleep studies
- Score all modes of polysomnographic testing accurately according to AASM and departmental standards.
- Administer oxygen and PAP therapy per physician orders; instruct patients on equipment use and care.
- Provide age-appropriate care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Evaluate patient and family educational needs; provide direct education or referrals.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Polysomnographic, Respiratory Therapy, or Electroneurodiagnostic program required
- Associate's degree in health sciences preferred
- Minimum 6 months of clinical experience in a Sleep Center required
- Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
- Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) OR
- Sleep Disorder Specialist
- National Board for Respiratory Therapy Care
- State licensure in Polysomnographic Technology or Respiratory Care required where applicable
- Iowa board of Respiratory Care and Polysomnography (IBRC)
- Illinois Department Of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
