As a member of our interdisciplinary team, contributes professional prehospital EMS knowledge and skills to patients and their families. Maintains excellent patient service skills, is able to work well under pressure, and make quick decisions about patient health. Provides a level of care outlined by the State of Iowa Scope of Practice in accordance to their state EMS certification level and hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
- Provide emergency medical care to patients in prehospital and transport settings following established EMS protocols and scope of practice.
- Assess patient conditions, interpret medical protocols, and develop appropriate care plans during emergency response and transport.
- Serve as the primary patient attendant on scene and during transport when required.
- Safely transport patients and community members using ambulances or other authorized vehicles, including in adverse weather conditions.
- Assist with patient movement using stretchers, stair chairs, and other transport equipment.
- Document patient care accurately and promptly to maintain a complete medical and legal record.
- Maintain ambulance readiness by completing routine equipment checks, stocking supplies, and ensuring vehicles are cleaned and properly prepared.
- Support patient care within the hospital by assisting nursing staff in the Emergency Department and other patient care areas as appropriate.
- Represent the department professionally at community events, standby services, and outreach activities.
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current certification at EMT-PM level is required.
- Current certification in PHTLS, PEARS.
- Current NREMT certification.
- Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement
