As a professional, the Medical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing following the established policies and procedures within the laboratory department and UnityPoint Health to aid the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. They are responsible for solving practical and analytical problems, maintaining, and troubleshooting highly complex instrumentation, and must adhere to all quality and regulatory guidelines to ensure the highest quality patient care.

Responsibilities
Completes all functions of testing in Microbiology and related departments. Performs support functions such as specimen processing.
Collects/Obtains, labels, and delivers specimens in accordance with standards, and policies of available information systems
Prioritizes, performs, judges, and reports routine and esoteric procedures within established time guidelines.
Qualifications
Graduate of a 2 year program for MLT with no experience or a minimum of 2 years experience in an office setting performing lab procedures Minimum Experience: 2 years. Preferred Certification/Registration: Board certified by ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists).
