The position of Marketing Communications Intern is to offer practical learning experience for college students interested in communications, marketing, public relations, and/or advertising and the intern will provide project support to the Marketing Communications Department

Responsibilities
Provides Support for Communications Staff
- Assists with development of department projects, including news releases, articles, social media, fliers, special events and activities.
- Assists with event planning an execution, including promotion, preparation and day of support.
- Provides administrative support for department projects, as assigned.
- Proofs materials to assure accuracy in spelling, punctuation, and assist in editing and formatting written communications materials such as articles, blog posts, social media posts, ad copies, fliers, etc.
- Drafts blog posts, news releases and copy for publications and brochures and/or helps design social media graphics, fliers, posters, displays, etc.
- Assists with event planning an execution, including promotion, preparation and day of support
- Maintains well-organized files to assure the availability and retrieval of documents generated through work on assigned projects.
- Uses word processing technology to accurately and efficiently produce correspondence, reports and other printed materials in consistent and attractive formats.
- Organized assigned projects to ensure efficient use of department procedures, budgets and staff
- Demonstrates the initiative to organize multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Consistently meets all deadlines.
- Graphic Design – Projects assigned and could encompass event fliers, social media graphics, and Fall Fling items (such as table numbers, name tags, posters, etc.)
- Web Content – Work under supervision to move content over to new site map. Assist with any basic web updates needed be transitioning to new website
- Social Media – Posts, stories, photos
- Blog Content – Draft content for GCMH blog, monthly health observances that tie back to GCMH services
- Event Planning/Management – Coordinate and support events such as Walk with a Doc, parades, golf outings, etc. Begin work on Fall Fling items if time allows before completion of internship
Minimum Requirements:
- Current enrollment in an accredited program, majoring in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or related degree
- GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Human relations and team skills.
- Possesses telephone skills, including answering telephones promptly, receiving and handling inquiries, accurately recording messages and assisting communications staff in responses and actions.
- Proficient in the use of traditional office equipment, including Word and Excel, desktop design/publishing/graphics software, and email systems.
- Previous internship or job shadow experience
- Proficient in design programs such as InDesign and Canva.
