Responsibilities
- Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
- Room patients, record patient histories, vital signs, and document in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of certification
- Perform limited radiographic imaging and ensure high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with provider orders and radiation safety standards (Limited Radiography only)
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures and maintain radiology equipment and required documentation (Limited Radiography only)
- Educate patients on health, medications, imaging procedures, and follow-up care
- Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment
- Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate's Degree) required.
- Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required:
- National Healthcare Association
- American Association of Medical Assistants
- National Center for Competency Testing
- National Certified Medical Assistant
- National Association of Health Professionals
- American Registry of Medical Assistants
- American Allied Health
- American Medical Technologists
- Current Iowa Limited Radiography Permit required for positions hiring/requiring Limited Radiography.
- Knowledge of radiographic safety practices and the ability to perform limited diagnostic imaging in accordance with provider orders and regulatory standards preferred.
- Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC a plus!
- For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or float to other locations to support optimized staffing.
