What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commvault Engineer position at Unity Systems?
Overview:
3 years supporting or delivering in an enterprise-level environment with Commvault Backup software on NetApp hardware . You will provide L1/L2 support for our enterprise customers. This individual will have a general understanding of many infrastructure technology verticals and operating systems and should have at least one core area of expertise. The candidate will need to have strong communication and problem-solving skills along with a strong willingness to learn new technologies. They are looking for people to help support their Commvault BURA workloads.
Requirements:
- Must have prior experience involving in DR Drill Restore of client servers inclusive of Commvault Server/Client Installation:
- RTO&RPO the backup data restored to client Servers. (Pro-actively monitor for the slow backups, Hung jobs, long queued Jobs in the environment and take necessary action)
- Perform morning checks related to DR Restores. ( DR restoration on a monthly basis for mission critical servers and checking the data integrity- Upgrade Commserve and Media agents to latest SP level.)
- Monthly maintenance of commserve by recycling services and rebooting.
- Perform root cause analysis for backup failures.
- Managing and configuring reports for critical backup failures.
- Configuration management Duties such as
- Configuration/de-activation of backup policies for new and de-commissioned clients.
- Configuring tape drives/ tape drive cleaning and stuck media removal.
- Configuring tape libraries like HP MSL 2048, 2024, 1x8 autoloaders and standalone tape drives.
- Upgrading service pack for all the clients in a timely manner.
- Configure and troubleshoot VM backups on Hyper- V & VMware.
- Worked on upgrade of Commserve and media agents to version11.
- Creating storage policies, sub-client policies and schedule policies.
- Sending Daily Reports of Backup Failures, Capacity management to the clients.
