Qualification
- Experience: Preferred three-years similar school security experience
- Background: Clean criminal record; must pass both DOJ and FBI fingerprint/background checks.
- Work Status: U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor school grounds before school, during school hours, during passing periods, lunch, and after school dismissal.
- Open the school campus and assist with supervision of student arrival and dismissal procedures, including traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
- Conduct regular patrols of campus to ensure student safety and discourage loitering, inappropriate congregation, or unauthorized activity.
- Supervise the restroom areas and maintain a tidy, organized, and safe environment in the surrounding area.
- Speak with, monitor, and supervise students who are referred or sent by teachers, counselors, or administrators.
- Encourage students who are tardy or loitering to return to class promptly and respectfully.
- Assist with enforcing school dress code and behavioral expectations in a professional and respectful manner.
- De-escalate situations involving upset, frustrated, or emotionally escalated students using calm communication, active listening, and conflict resolution strategies.
- Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear professional boundaries and expectations.
- Cover teacher classroom breaks or temporary supervision needs as assigned by administration.
- Utilize two-way radio communication effectively and professionally to support school operations and respond to campus needs.
- Greet visitors, students, parents, and families in a welcoming and professional manner.
- Monitor campus entry points and report unauthorized individuals or safety concerns immediately.
- Support positive student behavior, respectful language, and constructive peer interactions.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to maintain a safe and supportive campus climate.
- Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance.
- Complete incident reports and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain professionalism at all times, including refraining from personal cell phone use during work hours except for emergencies or administrative authorization.
- Perform other duties related to campus safety and supervision as assigned.
