Position Summary: The Lead Application Engineer is a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications that serve Unity's mission. This role bridges development and engineering, mentoring developers while actively coding, integrating systems, and delivering solutions that align with organizational needs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead hands-on development, integration, and deployment of key applications across Unity's ecosystem.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into scalable, maintainable code and system designs.
  • Mentor and guide developers, fostering collaboration, learning, and craftsmanship within the Application Development team.
  • Implement and uphold best practices in version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with data and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless system interoperability and performance.
  • Participate in the 4D delivery model (Discovery, Design, Development, Deployment) ensuring projects follow structured lifecycles with visible progress and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues and provide advanced technical support as needed.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions, solution reviews, and modernization initiatives.
  • Promote a servant leadership culture by removing barriers and creating space for others to succeed.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in professional software engineering, including at least 2 years in a lead or senior engineer capacity.
  • Expertise in full-stack development using frameworks such as .NET, Python, or ; experience with REST APIs and SQL.
  • Familiarity with SaaS integrations, CRM systems, and cloud services (Azure or AWS).

Skills:

  • Proven ability to mentor others and manage projects hands-on.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills rooted in empathy and technical clarity.
