Co-Occurring Counselor (LAC/LSW)
Location: Unity Place – Cherry Hill, NJ
Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually (commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Position Overview
Unity Place is seeking a Co-Occurring Counselor to join our multidisciplinary clinical team. This role plays a vital part in welcoming new clients, conducting assessments, and supporting individuals as they begin their recovery journey. The ideal candidate is empathetic, organized, and experienced in working with individuals facing both substance use and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive intake and biopsychosocial assessments
- Collect and document client history, substance use patterns, and mental health information
- Educate clients and families on treatment options and program services
- Develop and support individualized recovery and treatment plans
- Coordinate referrals and schedule follow-up services as needed
- Provide emotional support, guidance, mentorship, and advocacy
- Assist clients in navigating resources such as housing, employment, and healthcare
- Encourage self-advocacy and reduce stigma surrounding mental health and addiction
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards
- Collaborate with clinical staff and community partners to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Active or eligible NJ licensure required (LAC, LSW, or equivalent)
- Experience or strong knowledge of substance use and co-occurring disorders
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems preferred
