JOB SUMMARY:
To provide patient care and technical skills in the operation of diagnostic radiographic equipment for diagnostic and evaluation purposes. Performs Radiologic Procedures under the direction of a Radiologist within the parameters of the ARRT.
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform routine radiography according to the procedure manual allowing for any special instructions from the Radiologist or patient physician.
- Performs fluoroscopy procedures routinely.
- Performs in the OR with C-arm regularly.
- Employees must be well versed in procedures requiring sterile processes.
- Performs all exams with optimum standard of quality as directed by the Radiologist/Procedure manual.
- Performs exams in a timely manner, keeping wait times to a minimum.
- Put performed cases together, check for old exams, pulling or downloading as necessary. Pull old report for review.
- Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.
- Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education.
- Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
- Prepares patients films for interpretation by radiologist.
- Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
- Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care.
- Participates in research projects as directed and assigned.
- Instructs students on clinical radiographic skills.
- Applies the profession’s code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
- Participate in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, data collection, and documentation as assigned.
- Always leave the assigned area clean, stocked and ready for the next shift.
- Responsible for knowing the lifting requirements of the job and requesting assistance when appropriate.
- Contact various hospital departments to change schedules; arrange for patient transportation, unit cleaning or equipment repair; and to order supplies, etc.
- Performs related clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, faxing, etc.
- Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality. Assures protection and privacy of health information as attained through written, electronic or verbal disclosures.
- Displays concern and initiative. Is resourceful and calm in emergencies.
- Is prompt and efficient with minimal absences.
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with nursing staff, medical staff, other departments, and visitors.
- Seeks guidance and remains knowledgeable of, and complies with, all applicable federal and state laws, as well as hospital polices that apply to assigned duties.
- Complies with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct.
- Complies with federal and hospital requirements in the areas of protected health information and patient privacy
JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES:
Education: Associate degree or radiologic graduate from an accredited radiography program, ARRT registered or registry eligible
Experience: Prefer one-year Radiologic experience.
Licensure: CPR certification within 180 days of hire.
Other Job Requirements: Standard radiology and office equipment. Excellent verbal communication skills necessary to instruct and comfort patients and their families. Maintain effective contacts with a variety of hospital personnel. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit/department. Knowledge in the use of online systems. Basic typing and keypunch skills. Ability to interpret computer output errors and make appropriate corrections. Ability to react calmly and effectively in busy or emergency situations.
