Position SummaryUNITY Lutheran Church is seeking a passionate, relational, and energetic Director of Christian Education to lead children's faith formation (birth through Grade 8) and help families grow in their walk with Christ.
Working alongside pastors, staff, and volunteers, this full-time role provides vision, leadership, and hands-on coordination of children's ministry programs that inspire faith, foster relationships, and build community.
Responsibilities- Lead and grow children's Christian education programs across two campuses.
- Plan and oversee Sunday School, Vacation Bible School (VBS), and fellowship opportunities.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer teaching teams.
- Partner with pastoral staff on Confirmation and other faith formation programs.
- Deliver monthly children's messages during worship.
- Foster meaningful relationships with children, parents, and volunteers.
- Develop creative strategies to increase participation and engagement.
- Encourage cross-generational ministry and service opportunities.
- Assist with ministry planning and budget management.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, or comparable experience.
- Five or more years of teaching or educational experience.
- Experience in church ministry and volunteer leadership.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Passion for helping children and families grow in faith.
- Practicing Christian committed to faith-based ministry.
- Curriculum development experience preferred.
This full-time position includes a flexible schedule with:
- Sunday mornings
- Select Saturday evenings
- Midweek programming during the school year
- Occasional overnight events and summer camps
