Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
A language differential is available and bilingual skills must be used daily as part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the safety, security, and smooth overnight functioning of the Domestic Violence Emergency Residence
- Follow all program policies, routines, and procedures
- Provide light cleaning and upkeep of the shelter as needed
- Answer phone calls, including the Unity House Domestic Violence Hotline
- Assist with calls from the NYS Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault/PREA Hotlines when needed
- Build rapport with residents using trauma-informed and victim-centered approaches
- Provide crisis intervention and support during overnight needs and emergencies
- Complete timely and accurate reports and documentation
- Contribute to an environment of inclusion, dignity, and belonging
Qualifications & Requirements
- College degree preferred
- High School Diploma/GED required
- 1–2 years prior experience working with victims of domestic violence or similar vulnerable populations
- Reliable transportation required
- Valid NYS driver’s license required
