Unity Dance Studios (UDS) is a Christ-centered studio with locations in Cleveland and Ooltewah, Tennessee. Unity's focus is classical ballet and modern dance but also offers a wide variety of styles including acro, lyrical, pointe, hip-hop, tap and jazz. Unity's goal is to build a foundation for excellence in the Christian arts by instilling self-worth and dedication in its students.
Unity combines a technical dance curriculum with a positive teaching style to provide a launching pad for student success. Teachers should have a passion not only for excellent dance technique but also for the encouragement and success of their students. Classes take place on a weekly basis at the UDS facilities, and teachers must be able to commit to a seasonal contract (August 2021 - May 2022).
Teachers are responsible for:
- following the UDS syllabus
- demonstrating proficiencies in the style of dance they are teaching (ability to describe, demonstrate, and effectively teach applicable steps)
- creating and submitting lesson plans to the Studio Manager
- choreographing dance routines for end-of-semester productions
- being present for all studio dress rehearsals and productions
- attending monthly teacher meetings
- maintaining class order and consistently communicating with students throughout the class
- communicating with students and parents before and after class
- reporting to the studio manager to ensure their students are learning and growing according to the UDS syllabus
