What are the responsibilities and job description for the Splicer position at Uniti Fiber?
The primary responsibility of the Splicer is the preparation and splicing of fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor environments. The position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunication infrastructure; familiarity with fiber optic cable and splice enclosures; ability to use fusion splicing equipment and an OTDR; Ability to read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams. Ability to identify and troubleshoot fiber issues; Must be able maintain control of activities surrounding the assigned work site(s); Maintain accurate splicing and field notes; Support project timelines and provide accurate feedback. Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables. Construct a proper splice case, including but not limited to: grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage and sealing.
- Fiber splicing may occur at various locations such as: cellular sites, Central Offices, Carrier POPs, Enterprise facilities, military bases, schools and more.
- Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics and diagrams.
- Perform work in accordance with industry standards and adhere to safety procedures.
- Travel will be required and may be up to 80%, depending on the business needs.

Education And/or Experience
- High School, a combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to distinguish between colors and read diagrams.
