The Underwriting Consultant for Employer & Individual for Large Group Fully Insured is responsible for analyzing health benefit plans and assessing the risk profiles of both existing and prospective clients. This role applies established, compliant underwriting criteria, policies, and rating methodologies to ensure accurate pricing. The UW Consultant also evaluates internal and external reports to confirm that pricing reflects the assessed risk and aligns with internal performance metrics. The ability to deliver timely, accurate, and strategic pricing decisions is essential to meet client expectations and business goals.
You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities
- Calculate rates, assess risk, and evaluate financial impact using established manual and experience rating methodologies
- Interpret claims and analyze data to guide pricing decisions
- Align pricing with budget goals and market competitiveness
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes
- Ensure compliance and maintain documentation

Required Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in group healthcare underwriting
- 3 years of experience with Risk Management
- Demonstrated intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Proven excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to understand and calculate revenue, expense, risk and profit
- All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy
