Position Title: Mission Advancement Specialist
Reports To: Director/CEO
Status: Full-Time, Exempt/Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Mission Advancement Specialist plays a key role in strengthening the organization’s impact by supporting fundraising initiatives, community engagement, donor relations, and mission-focused communications. This position helps advance the organization’s strategic goals by cultivating relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and community members while ensuring clear communication of the mission, programs, and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Community Support Development
- Assist in Develop and execute strategies to grow annual giving revenue across all donor segments.
- Assist and coordinate multi-channel fundraising appeals, including direct mail, email campaigns, social media outreach, and digital fundraising.
- Coordinate logistics, timelines, and messaging for annual giving initiatives.
- Monitor metrics and adjust tactics to improve performance.
Donor Engagement & Stewardship
- Cultivate and steward relationships with individual donors to increase gift frequency and size.
- Manage donor acknowledgment and fulfillment processes to ensure timely, accurate communication.
- Implement donor retention strategies and identify opportunities for upgrades to leadership giving levels.
Workplace & Corporate Campaigns
- Support and strengthen workplace giving campaigns by engaging company representatives, delivering presentations, and coordinating campaign materials.
- Assist in building relationships with businesses and community partners to expand annual giving opportunities.
Community Outreach
- Represent the organization at events, presentations, and networking opportunities to promote giving and community support.
- Collaborate with community organizations, volunteers, and ambassadors to encourage philanthropic participation.
Events & Special Projects
- Assist with fundraising events, stewardship gatherings, and donor appreciation activities.
- Support sponsorship outreach and engagement as appropriate.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain accurate donor records in the donor software system; track giving histories, interactions, and trends.
- Prepare reports to analyze annual giving progress and donor behaviors.
- Ensure compliance with all donor confidentiality and data integrity standards.
Marketing & Communications Support
- Collaborate with marketing team to create compelling donor-focused messages and storytelling content.
- Assist in creating materials for appeals, newsletters, social media, and the website.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, social services, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in fundraising, donor relations, marketing, or community engagement preferred.
- Ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Comfortable using donor management systems, CRM tools, Microsoft Office, and social media platforms.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Passion for community service and advancing the organization’s mission.
