Position Summary
United Way of Northwest Connecticut is seeking a proactive and community-focused Community Engagement Coordinator to support the Family Bridge Northwest Connecticut program, a Universal Newborn Home Visiting initiative serving rural communities across Northwest Connecticut.
This position plays a critical role in strengthening community partnerships, increasing awareness of available family supports, and improving access to resources for families with newborns. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter who thrives working independently while building meaningful relationships with healthcare providers, community organizations, and families.
Key Responsibilities
· Community Engagement & Recruitment: Develop and implement creative, community-informed outreach strategies to increase program awareness and participation. Conduct outreach through information sessions, provider-based engagement, raffles, giveaways, and other community-centered activities.
· Partnership Development: Build and maintain collaborative relationships with birthing hospitals, pediatric offices, OB/GYN practices, and community-based organizations.
· Events & Presentations: Represent United Way at community events, meetings, and public forums. Conduct at least one informational presentation or outreach session per quarter.
· Digital Marketing & Communications: Support outreach and recruitment efforts through social media and digital marketing initiatives. Collaborate with the development team on marketing and grant-writing efforts.
· Data Collection & Reporting: Track outreach activities and maintain accurate records using the SalesForce MIS platform. Assist with state and local reporting requirements.
· Program & Administrative Support: Provide logistical and administrative support to Nurse Home Visitors and maintain inventories of outreach materials and family resources.
· Advisory Leadership & Strategic Planning: Serve as Lead for the Family Bridge Community Advisory Board and help identify unmet community needs through focus groups and feedback collection.
Qualifications
· Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in public health, social work, community development, communications, or a related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related experience or Associate degree plus four years of related experience preferred.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn specialized systems.
· Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
· Additional Requirements: Valid driver’s license, reliable insured transportation, and the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Work Schedule
This full-time position is based in Torrington and includes regular travel throughout Northwest Connecticut. The schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend outreach events and meetings.
