ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW 

United Way of Greater Atlanta (UWGA) is in the midst of transformational change and is embarking on new ways to raise and earn revenue to accelerate and scale its mission to drive sustainable and equitable improvements in the well-being of children, families, and individuals in greater Atlanta. The mission remains the same: To bring together people and resources to drive sustainable and equitable improvements in the well-being of half a million lives across Greater Atlanta. The value proposition is to unite Greater Atlanta to create, amplify, and accelerate solutions that promote child well-being by addressing our communities’ most complex social challenges.  

 

These solutions and the backbone behind them are all in service of the organization’s bold growth ambition: to triple unrestricted revenue by 2029 and become the best-in-class investor in child well-being in Greater Atlanta, ultimately eliminating the barriers of one’s zip code as a hindrance to future success. This transformation will unleash the next generation of UWGA, putting UWGA on a growth pathway that will significantly amplify its impact by increasing its investment in solutions that can make a lasting difference for Child Well-Being in Greater Atlanta. 

 

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW 

The Office of Development (OOD) at United Way of Greater Atlanta is responsible for generating the philanthropic revenue that fuels the organization’s mission to improve child well-being and advance equity across the region. Within this office, the Partnerships Team plays a critical role in cultivating and managing relationships with corporate and community partners. This team is charged with identifying and securing new business opportunities, while also nurturing short- and long-term partnerships that align the values and goals of partner organizations with United Way’s strategic priorities. Beyond traditional workplace giving campaigns, the Partnerships Team works collaboratively with departments across the Office of Development, including Major Gifts, Volunteer Engagement, and Donor Engagement, to offer partners and their employees a range of meaningful ways to get involved. From hands-on volunteering to marketing and storytelling, the Partnerships Team ensures that every partner has a personalized, purpose-driven experience that deepens their connection to the community and amplifies their impact. 

Qualifications:

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The Director, Corporate Partnerships is a self-starter and high-energy relationship builder responsible for generating $250K  in new revenue and managing a portfolio of corporate partners. This role focuses on new business development, corporate engagement, financial forecasting, and partnership innovation to advance United Way of Greater Atlanta’s mission to improve child well-being. This is a fast-paced, sales-oriented role for someone who is hungry to succeed, coachable, collaborative, and results-driven. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and execute a proactive prospecting strategy to identify, qualify, and close new corporate prospects annually. 

  • Build and manage a high-volume sales pipeline, tracking activity, forecasting revenue, and ensuring consistent movement toward goals. 

  • Cultivate long-term partnerships with corporate leaders, understanding their business needs, and aligning them with high-impact engagement opportunities. 

  • Create and deliver compelling, value-driven pitches, presentations, and proposals that inspire investment. 

  • Grow United Way’s small business programs - Business Impact Group and Building Resilient Entrepreneurs and serve as the Office of Development’s lead contact for partnership and revenue growth. 

  • Collaborate across departments to deliver custom partnership experiences — volunteer activations, campaigns, sponsorships, and more. 

  • Attend networking events, industry conferences, and company functions as needed to strengthen relationships, cultivate new partnerships, and represent the United Way of Greater Atlanta in the community. 

  • Inject innovation and creative thinking into every aspect of the sales cycle: new product ideas, new engagement pathways, and bold “What if we tried this?” concepts that differentiate the United Way in the corporate market. 

You’re a relationship-driven professional who gets energy from prospecting, pitching, and winning new business. The ideal candidate is: 

  • A hunter-minded self-starter who knows how to open doors and close deals 

  • Resilient, thick-skinned, comfortable hearing “no” and using it to refine strategy and push forward 

  • Motivated by ambitious revenue goals and excited by measurable results

  • A natural storyteller who can articulate value and connect with diverse stakeholders

  • Collaborative and skilled at pulling in cross-functional partners to deliver solutions 

  • Experienced in sales, business development, partnerships, or fundraising (5–7 years) 

  • Passionate about community impact, equity, and supporting small businesses

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Marketing, Communications, or related fields preferred) 

  • 5–7 years in corporate partnerships, business development, sales, or fundraising 

  • Successful track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals 

  • Demonstrated strength in prospecting, pipeline development, and closing 

  • Skilled communicator with strong presentation and negotiation abilities 

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and revenue tracking tools
