Job Description:
A successful Maintenance Crew Leader (MCL) is detail-oriented, well-rounded in the landscape industry, and responsible for landscape maintenance and enhancement projects under the direction of a Maintenance Site Supervisor (MSS). The MCL provides lead supervision to assigned team members; delegates daily work and guides team members in the safe delivery of landscape maintenance operations. The MCL leads by example, always displays a “Can Do” attitude, promotes professionalism, and embraces accountability. The incumbent can operate a variety of machinery, tools, and equipment and has a working knowledge of horticulture practices. This position is intended for continuous development and upward growth within the company. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Direct, oversee and participate in daily landscape maintenance operations; apply leadership skills to effectively keep team members engaged in assigned tasks
- Perform quality assurance activities aimed to detect and resolve problems, and delivery satisfactory outcomes
- Apply company’s training and team development tools to ensure all crew members perform their work safely and efficiently
- Provide relevant feedback about crews’ performance and quality of work; always looking out for the best interest of every maintenance production crew member
- Operate a variety of landscape equipment including but not limited to commercial mower, line/hedge trimmer, edge, blower, and chainsaw
- Maintains vehicle and equipment and reports any needed repairs
- Complete UVETS’ training, certification tracks (CT) that heighten forward mobility
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to assign and supervise the work of others, provide instruction, lead crew, and inspire confidence
- Basic knowledge of in-depth horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, and fertilization
- Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower
- Ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism
- Highly energetic, self-starter, and demonstrates a positive attitude
- Excellent communication skills; written and oral
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to understand the technical requirements to perform landscape maintenance duties as assigned
- Must be professional in appearance and actions
- Results and action-oriented
- Effective problem-solving skills, and ability to work and meet deadlines
