Job Description:
The successful Fleet Maintenance Specialist (FMS) will perform routine small engine (gas and diesel) maintenance and repairs on a variety of tree, landscape and chemical application equipment. The FMS will also repair, or replace worn or broken parts, including, but not limited to, Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Suspension components, Power steering systems, and Steering gear box (manual and power). The FMS will also maintain records of inspections, work performed, and parts used. This position will also perform all other duties as assigned.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform all levels of preventative maintenance services
- Manage and execute a Preventative Maintenance Program, including, but not limited to, service schedules, inspections, registration and lifecycle replacement
- Ensure all fleet vehicles and equipment operate safely and in accordance with state and local guidelines
- Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and orderly workspace, including, but not limited to, maintenance shop, tools, special items of equipment and vehicles
- Maintain equipment inventory and maintenance records
- Safely operate all vehicles and other job-related equipment
- Properly store equipment, materials and supplies according to applicable safety guidelines
- Complete UVETS’ training, certification tracks (CT) that heighten forward mobility
- Assist in areas of construction and lawncare maintenance as needed
- Maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of small engine repair and vehicle maintenance
- Knowledge of landscape equipment and maintenance tools
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair equipment with accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical issues
- Perform brake services on trucks and trailers
- Knowledge of safety guidelines relating to mechanical work and supply storage
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines; plan, organize and prioritize work
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Basic knowledge of computer and internet skills
- Ability to handle diversity

Physical Requirements:
- Employee is required to stand, walk, crouch, stoop and/or kneel; employee will regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
- May be exposed to hazardous material, loud noise, and/or extreme heat/cold temperatures
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- At least three (3) years of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair experience; military experience may be substituted to meet position requirements
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a clean record
