Job Description:
The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely scanning and indexing of patient records. This role involves administrative and clerical tasks, including processing requests for medical records, maintaining filing systems, and assisting in various departments as needed.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely scanning and indexing of patient documents into the medical record system.
Process requests and subpoenas for medical records in accordance with standard protocols.
Compile patient documents required for upcoming appointments, as applicable.
Maintain the filing system for ultrasound images.
Manage the file system for patient records stored at outside facilities.
Provide assistance in other departments when required.

Qualifications:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum of two (2) years of clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting.
Urology or surgical experience preferred but not essential.
Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective healthcare team member.
Proven organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient computer software and database skills.
Ability to multi-task, effectively problem-solve, and work in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail, willingness to learn, and bring forth ideas to enhance positive patient care.
Proficient knowledge of medical terminology.
Maintain & adhere to HIPAA compliance/ regulations.
Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Travel:
Must have the ability & willingness to travel to other sites as necessary within a geographic region.
Physical Requirements for the Job:
Regularly required to sit and stand for extended periods.
Involves standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and twisting.
Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 lbs.
