What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Foreman / Lead Technician position at United Truck Sales?
Clarklake, Michigan
UTS Equipment Company is a family-owned tractor, trailer, and equipment dealership with four locations across Michigan. We are one of the nation's top TYM Tractor dealers and continue to grow every year.
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Service Manager / Lead Technician to run the service department at our Clarklake location.
This is not a corporate management position where you sit behind a desk all day. This is a working leadership role for someone who enjoys diagnosing problems, repairing equipment, helping customers, and taking ownership of a shop.
What You'll Do
As the primary service professional at the Clarklake location, you'll be responsible for:
- Diagnosing and repairing compact and utility tractors
- Performing scheduled maintenance and preventative service
- Troubleshooting diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues
- Processing and documenting warranty repairs
- Answering service-related customer inquiries
- Scheduling service work and managing shop workflow
- Installing tractor accessories and attachments
- Assembling implements and equipment for sale
- Assisting with trailer assembly, setup, and inspections
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional shop environment
- Delivering equipment when needed
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is a versatile equipment technician who can work independently and solve problems without needing constant direction.
Experience with any of the following is highly valued:
- Compact or agricultural tractors
- Construction equipment
- Diesel engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Trailer repair and maintenance
- Electrical diagnostics
- Warranty claim processes
You should be comfortable performing:
- Preventative maintenance services
- Mechanical repairs
- Basic diesel diagnostics
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Wheel seal, bearing, suspension, and axle repairs
- Equipment setup and assembly
Requirements
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift and move equipment components as required
- Ability to work a full-time schedule
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Why UTS?
- Family-owned and operated company
- Stable, growing business
- No overnight travel
- No mobile service truck work
- Variety of equipment and projects every day
- Opportunity to take ownership of your department
- Work directly with decision makers instead of corporate management
If you're the type of person who can diagnose a tractor, process a warranty claim, assemble an attachment, answer a customer question, and keep the shop running smoothly, we'd like to talk with you.
