Company Description United Tribes Technical College (UTTC), founded in 1969, is a nonprofit tribal college owned and operated by five tribes located wholly or in part in North Dakota. Role Description The Engineering Faculty member will teach undergraduate engineering and related courses, develop syllabi and assignments, and maintain up-to-date course materials aligned with program outcomes and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include designing and delivering lectures, laboratories, and project-based learning experiences; assessing student performance; and providing timely, constructive feedback. The role involves mentoring students, supporting their academic progress, and contributing to curriculum development that reflects the needs of tribal communities and contemporary engineering practice. The faculty member will participate in departmental and college committees, engage in professional development, and may contribute to scholarly or applied research projects. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bismarck, ND, requiring regular presence on campus and collaboration with colleagues, staff, and community partners.
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge in an engineering discipline (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental, or related field) and ability to teach core and specialized undergraduate courses.
- Experience with laboratory instruction, hands-on projects, and applied learning methods that support diverse learning styles.
- Strong skills in curriculum development, course planning, and assessment, including alignment with accreditation and institutional standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in both written and oral forms, including preparing instructional materials and documenting student progress.
- Commitment to student-centered teaching, mentoring, and supporting learners from varied cultural, academic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about tribal colleges, Indigenous communities, and culturally responsive pedagogies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and community partners, and to contribute to departmental and institutional initiatives.
- Minimum of a master’s degree in engineering or a closely related field; a doctoral degree or professional licensure (e.g., PE) is preferred.
- Prior college-level teaching experience or equivalent professional experience in engineering is highly beneficial.
