How you’ll contribute
Conduct and assist in product development and research efforts for tissue-based regenerative medicine products for treatment of pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases. More specifically, support decellularization process development and focus on material and functional characterization of lung scaffold and RegenLung construct.
- Prepare native lungs for decellularization or functional testing including dissection and cannulation and contribute to development of improved processes.
- Perform physiologically relevant material characterization of decellularized and recellularized lung scaffold and assist in development of such methods.
- Perform maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, and set-up of bioreactors and test systems for tissue engineering applications.
- Routinely perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples and data collected from native, decellularized and recellularized lung materials with a focus on material characterization.
- Utilize histological, biochemical, physical, or immunological methods to assess materials.
- Perform microscopy-based analyses of prepared materials including imaging and image analyses.
- Routinely assist in functional evaluation of tissue engineered test articles.
- Follow prescribed and assist in development of laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions.
- Routinely operate automated decellularization and lung function fluid handling systems
- Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s)
- Routinely prepare and record use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments.
- Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissue.

For this role you will need
Minimum Qualifications
- BS or MS in life science, engineering, biomedical science
- 1-3 years of laboratory employment
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Facility with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software. Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software.
- Aseptic technique
- Knowledge of fluid mechanics, physiological assessments, and/or fluid mechanics
- Tissue handling and dissection
- Good team member skills; must work well with others
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day tasks effectively
- Ability to organize and present data
- Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols
- Highly self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant coursework or relevant project-based undergraduate or Master’s level post-graduate research experience may be considered
