How you’ll contribute Conduct and assist in research efforts to develop tissue-based regenerative medicine products for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases. This is primarily achieved through routine performance of lung scaffold recellularization experiments. Work as an integral part of the team to complete lung scaffold recellularization experiments Prepare human and non-human organs, tissues, and cells for experimentation Prepare lung scaffolds and reagents for tissue engineering experiments; duties include preparing media, cannulation and loading scaffolds into bioreactor chambers, preparing cell suspensions for seeding, construction of tubing circuits, etc. Act as a primary operator of recellularization bioreactor systems by performing routine technical tasks. This includes setup, maintenance, cleaning, and sterilization of bioreactor components for tissue engineering studies. May occasionally perform process and system development experimentation, such as development of new techniques for cell seeding and feeding of the lung scaffold or improvements to hardware performance Make technical or scientific observations in-process and consult with manager or others Collect and document in-process data (eg: pressures, flow rates) which will be used to guide the course of tissue engineering experiments May present data in internal team meetings Follow prescribed laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissues Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s) Record and manage use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments All other duties as required For this role you will need Minimum Requirements (1 Level) 3 years of laboratory employment experience with an Associates Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science or 1 years of laboratory employment experience with a Bachelor's degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science; undergraduate laboratory experience may be considered (2 Level) 4 years of experience in life science, bioengineering, or biomedical research with an Associates Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science or 2 years of experience in life science, bioengineering, or biomedical research with a Bachelor's Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science Good team member skills; must work well with others Good written and oral communication skills Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day tasks effectively Ability to organize and present data Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols Highly self-motivated Facility with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software; experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
