Job Description
- The Registered nurse is responsible for the application of the nursing process to deliver safe, complete, and high-quality care to all Pre and Post anesthesia patients
- The Registered nurse will provide diligent care to outpatient surgery patients via monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. The post-anesthesia care unit nurse (PACU nurse) will provide care for post-operative patients recovering from anesthesia, including general, MAC, regional, and local.
- Communicates effectively, conscientiously and frequently with all team members to share information and independently solve problems in a positive, results oriented manner.
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions and emotional support to patient and, at times, family.
- Maintain and apply the scientific knowledge relevant to the care requirements of the patient with consideration of age specific and developmental needs.
- Attend staff meetings, educational and safety programs.
- Demonstrate organizational skills to facilitate a smooth work flow.
- Demonstrate high quality customer service to our patients, their families, physicians and each other.
- Use effective communication techniques which adhere to common standards of courtesy
- Assess patients prior to surgery
- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and in order
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure
- Initiate IVs and ensure that patients are informed about the procedure
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition
- Monitor vital signs
- Log all findings in patient’s medical record
- Answer patient questions and ensure they are kept comfortable
- Monitor patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician
- Perform intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies

Required Skills:
Education, Training And Experience
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current California Nursing License
- Current BLS and ACLS
- Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Circulating experience preferred, willing to train
- Previous experience working in an ambulatory surgical setting preferred.
Salary : $50 - $65
