Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team at Union County Surgery Center. Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all nursing activities within the surgical center, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety standards are met consistently.
- Supervise and mentor nursing staff, including nurse managers, clinical nurses, and support personnel, fostering professional development and teamwork. Assist in Operating Room when needed.
- Maintain high standards of care for all patients by accurately observing, documenting, and communicating the patients entire surgical journey.
- Oversee documentation review processes, including medical records, care documentation, and compliance reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), Medicare requirements, long-term care regulations, and other applicable standards.
- Manage clinical staffing schedules to guarantee adequate coverage for all surgical procedures while optimizing resource utilization.
- Utilize our electronic medical records system, S.I.S. (Surgical Information System), platform effectively to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, infection control, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence within the surgical center.
- Maintain open communication channels with staff to promote a positive work environment that values leadership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Train, evaluate, schedule, and hold educational classes as required by the State of New Jersey.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medication side effects
- Lead the team as a QAPI leader, promoting/educating entire facility on the most up to date policies regarding State regulations, infection control, safety, and risk management
- Complete weekly, monthly, and quarterly NHSN reporting
- Perform required physician audits as required by the State
- Must be able to work one (1) to two (2) Saturdays per month
Requirements
- Proven experience in nursing leadership within a surgical center; prior management or supervising experience is essential.
- Strong background in nursing administration with comprehensive knowledge of New Jersey surgical center facility regulations
- Demonstrated ability to manage care facility teams effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
- In-depth understanding of Medicare policies, short-term care regulations, HIPAA requirements, and regulatory compliance protocols.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage shift schedules efficiently, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy principles related to surgical procedures, and patient care protocols.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing documentation review processes
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in clinical supervision tasks.
Qualifications:
- Current New Jersey State R.N. License
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a ASC Director of Nursing
- Current certifications in CPR, BLS, and ACLS
- Must be able and willing to work one (1) to two (2) Saturdays per month
