United Support Services, Inc., founded in 2003, is an innovative engineering and technology business headquartered in San Diego, CA. We have an exciting new opportunity and are currently looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Worker to provide support to U.S. Navy vessels in the Kittery, ME area. Duties and Responsibilities
• Fabricate, install, repair, and maintain sheet metal equipment and fixtures including machine guards, grease pans, shelves, lockers, tanks, ventilators, chutes, ducts, and metal roofing.
• Plan and lay out sheet metal maintenance and fabrication work from blueprints, models, sketches, and technical specifications.
• Set up and operate sheet metal working machines and equipment.
• Utilize a variety of hand tools and portable power tools for cutting, bending, forming, shaping, fitting, and assembling sheet metal components.
• Install fabricated sheet metal articles and components in accordance with project requirements.
• Use manually operated machine tools and precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality workmanship.
• Operate testing devices and equipment to verify functionality and compliance with specifications.
• Perform shaping, bending, fabricating, fitting, and assembly techniques associated with sheet metal work.
• Utilize rigging and hoisting equipment safely and effectively during material handling and installation operations.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures, quality standards, and housekeeping requirements.
• Work independently or collaboratively as part of a project team to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Additional tasks and duties may be assigned.
Required Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of sheet metal experience required.
• Experience working aboard shipboard or Navy vessel environments preferred.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques, materials, and associated equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans, layout sheets, circuit schematics, technical descriptions, and manufacturer guidance.
• Experience using industry-specific hand tools, portable power tools, manually operated machinery, and precision measuring tools.
• Ability to perform work assignments with minimal supervision.
• Ability to obtain and maintain military base access credentials and security clearance requirements.

The physical job requirement involves, but is not limited to, walking, reaching, bending-over, concentration in the presence of noise, lifting items up to 50 lbs., and traversing narrow passageways, climbing ladders/stairs, and operating in confined spaces onboard naval vessels, barges, and in buildings.
