- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including proper housekeeping and safe work practices
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company procedures
- Conduct safety talks and address hazards promptly
- Administer safety program
- Maintenance Execution
- Lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance work on shift to support cold rolling operations
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and work with crews to quickly diagnose and repair issues
- Support maintenance of key equipment such as:
- Rolling stands and mill housings
- Rolls, bearings, and gearboxes
- Hydraulic and lubrication systems
- Coil handling equipment (reels, payoff units, conveyors)
- Help prioritize work to balance urgent repairs and planned maintenance
- Team Leadership
- Supervise union maintenance employees, including mechanics and contractors
- Assign work, provide direction, and ensure jobs are completed safely and efficiently
- Encourage teamwork, accountability, and clear communication across shifts and departments
- Support training and development of employees through on-the-job coaching
- Coordinate with operations and planning teams to schedule repairs and preventative maintenance
- Ensure work orders are completed and properly documented
- Maintain awareness of critical spare parts and support inventory needs

- Identify recurring equipment issues and work with teams to improve reliability
- Support efforts to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance
- Encourage ideas from team members to improve safety and efficiency
- Complete shift reports and communicate equipment status during shift handoffs

- Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience supervising maintenance crews in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance practices
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays
- Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Manufacturing or similar degree program or equivalent years of demonstrated maintenance experience in a large industrial environment.
- Experience in cold rolling or similar manufacturing environment
- Background in mechanical maintenance (millwright, mechanic, or similar)
- Experience working with unionized employees or similar leadership experience
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, bearings, and rotating equipment
- Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., work orders, scheduling tools)
