What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager - Process Control position at United States Steel Corporation?
We currently have an opening for a Manager-Process Control Engineering to join our Information Technology organization at our Gary Works location. As an integral part of this highly skilled, innovative team, this position will play a significant role in leading process control and IT services to U. S. Steel’s Gary Works operation.
This position will be responsible for managing a Process Control application development team who design, develop, maintain, and enhance Level II and Level III production applications, database functionality, and web applications in a heavy industrial environment. The position will also be responsible for managing the Process Control Deskside Support team responsible for supporting PC’s, DVR’s, MDT’s, and other similar equipment.
Responsibilities:
- The applicant will need to lead a high-performance team in optimizing and improving industrial plant applications, databases, and web solutions to meet business requirements.
- The applicant will be responsible for managing people, maintaining costs, scheduling work assignments and activities, ensuring safe work practices, developing personnel, managing projects, and fulfilling administrative requirements.
- The applicant will be responsible for ensuring the support of Process Control Level II and Level III systems during critical events and providing hands on assistance and technical support for a 24x7 industrial environment.
- The applicant will also be responsible for the basic infrastructure system needs of two mining facilities.
Requirements:
- The applicant must have technical skills in the following areas: ASP.Net, SQL, Oracle, C#, Visual Basic/VB.Net, Crystal Reports or other Reporting Tool, and Microsoft Office.
- Additional skills that would be beneficial are PI, VMS, Fortran, jQuery, iFix, Oracle Forms/Reports, OPC, and/or familiarity with Process Control/Automation Systems.
- The applicant must understand the basic infrastructure system support needs.
- The applicant must be able to formulate and define systems’ scopes and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements and must possess full technical knowledge of most phases of systems.
- Applicants with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Electrical Engineering, or Equivalent Work Experience will be considered
- Capable of leading a high-performance team in providing cost effective and quality solutions that meet the business needs of our customers.
- Strong system, database, and web background.
- Capable of providing excellent oral and written communication at multi levels of an organization across a large corporation.
