The United States Space Force (USSF) at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico is searching for a Systems Engineer, Space Systems, SCIV (NH-0801-03, GS-12/13).

We are looking for a self-motivated, self-starter to oversee systems engineering processes and work with requirement holders to deliver quick reaction capabilities from prototypes to operational systems to answer warfighter needs. This position will work with multiple mission partners as well as multiple organization within the Delta to ensure the delivery of desired mission effects!
Employee plans and carries out assignments independently; conceives and defines solutions to highly complex problems; analyzes, interprets, and reports findings of projects; and guides technical and programmatic work of team members in comparable junior grades. Performs multidisciplinary professional engineering work to determine the business and technical needs of customers. Functions as an organizational technical specialist in design and development engineering for quick reaction systems. Performs complex and comprehensive analyses and evaluates procedures and employs innovative techniques and methods to achieve goals. Serves as a consultant and technical expert to senior subject matter specialists and/or agency officials responsible for broad program operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of the DoD Space Shuttle and International Space Station Payload integration process which include interrelationships of DoD, NASA and supporting contractor activities as they pertain to utilization of Space Shuttle and International Space Station, and NASA organization roles and responsibilities and how they interrelate to the DoD and National organizations.
Broad knowledge in systems engineering and test/evaluation, specifically related to human spaceflight payload integration and safety assessment activities and technical design of human spaceflight rated systems and operational procedures.
Requirements:
1. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
2. Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/ SCI clearance.
3. Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
4. May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
5. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours.
6. PCS / Incentive funding is not authorized.
7. Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework"
8. Position will close in 5 business days or 75 applications (whichever comes first).
9. Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
10. A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
11. This position has been designated as an acquisition position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP).
12. Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.”
13. This position has been designated for drug testing. Incumbent is subject to random urinalysis testing as a condition of employment.
