Job Title: Resource Development Manager
Reports To: Director of Accounting & Executive Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Department: Headquarters
Location: Onsite at USPA Headquarters in Fredericksburg, Virginia
Summary: The Resource Development Manager, will be responsible for the development and execution of the donor and fundraising strategies for the USPA & Affiliates; will contribute to USPA’s organizational strategic planning process and will be responsible for working with applicable directors to develop and execute fundraising plans. This position will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of donor and fundraising activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization. The goal is to enhance the relationship with relevant constituents, as well as to drive financial support for the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Advise the Executive Director on all matters pertaining to fundraising and resource development.
- Create, implement and refine an organization wide action plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors and prospects that allow the organization to actively achieve the strategic initiatives set forth in annual, capital, individual, corporate and foundation giving campaigns.
- Works to ensure that USPA single and multi-year resource development goals are strategically planned, thoughtfully implemented, accurately communicated, and successfully achieved in accordance with departmental and organizational mission.
- Directs the maintenance of donor/prospect records and mailing/email/social media lists for programs of annual and planned giving.
- Oversees and researches funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position USPA & Affiliates ahead of major funding changes or trends.
- Works closely with Director of Communications to execute marketing/public relations strategies that will allow USPA to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with donors.
- Oversees campaign communications, in conjunction with Director of Communications, creating content for solicitation materials, ensuring integration of campaign milestones into ongoing public relations outreach.
- Participates in the design, production, and distribution of invitations, printed programs, and other promotional materials and communications strategies used for major event fundraising.
- Uses facts, information and a sound decision-making process to solve problems and implement solutions within a reasonable timeframe.
- Analyzes revenue sources to identify areas of concern and opportunities for improvement and diversification.
- Demonstrates innovative thinking by continually improving strategies and adapting to changing member and organizational needs.
- Works with Director of Accounting to oversee gift processing and monthly reconciliation.
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures for all resource development functions, ensuring appropriate controls, compliance and customer service within USPA expectations.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned.
- USPA & Affiliates currently includes USPA, US Parachute Team Inc., Airport Access Defense Fund, US Skydiving Safety Foundation, US Parachute Team Trust Fund.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in relevant field such as marketing, communications, or business administration. Master’s Degree preferred.
- At least 5 years’ experience in fundraising, and/or managing the resource development function of an organization.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and executing development programs.
- Experience working with donor/fundraising constituent management software.
- Must be competent with the Microsoft Office software suite. (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience working within the association/not-for-profit industry is preferred.
