Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets such as vehicles, horses, and watercraft.
- Apprehending or physically restraining violators of state, federal, or immigration laws.
- Preparing investigative reports and gathering evidence for criminal cases.
Citizenship, residency, and age requirements must be met for this position. Candidates may also be eligible for Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). Formal training is provided at the U.S. Border Patrol Academy in Artesia, New Mexico. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required.
