GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as supervising or working as a paralegal in a legal office environment; providing administrative and technical legal expertise; working closely with attorneys responsible for investigating and litigating cases; performing legal research in support of litigation; examining and processing a variety of legal documents; analyzing and evaluating data in response to complex or sensitive requests; drafting briefs, pleadings or other legal documenting and correspondence; document findings and preparing recommendations; and planning and/or overseeing work assignments of legal staff.
Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If Selected For This Position, You Will Join a Well-respected Team In The United States Attorney's Office (USA), District Of New Mexico, Serving As a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist In The Criminal Division. Typical Work Assignments Will Include
- Providing administrative and technical supervision to support staff who provides paralegal or legal assistant services to one or more Assistant U.S. Attorneys;
- Coordinating and performing duties encompassing all electronic discovery issues within the Criminal Division for the entire district;
- Independently performing the most complex paralegal research and support assignments as needed;
- Reviewing all routine pleadings prepared by those reporting to incumbent as needed to ensure compliance with Department of Justice and USAO policies and practices;
- Providing leadership to USAO legal and paralegal staff by monitoring activities and making or recommending case improvements generally and as needed for electronically stored information; and
- Performing a variety of tasks associated with trials, hearings and other legal presentations.
