Responsibilities

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for obtaining, coordinating, analyzing and disseminating information relating to the detection and identification of terrorist and terrorist acts. Typical work assignments will include:

  • Conducts intelligence research and analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships related to criminal and terrorist activity. Gathers, evaluates, and synthesizes information from law enforcement, intelligence, and public-source databases.
  • Supports complex investigations by analyzing financial, business, electronic, and documentary records.
  • Coordinates with federal, state, and local intelligence and law enforcement partners to obtain and share information.
  • Participates in task forces, working groups, and Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) activities.
  • Prepares and disseminates analytical reports, bulletins, and briefings.
  • Maintains case logs, data entries, and analytical files in accordance with policy and litigation requirements.
  • Identifies information gaps, determines follow-up research needs, and recommends additional investigative steps.
  • Supports investigators in reviewing evidence and identifying witnesses or leads.

  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation

  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level as defined below.

Job Duties

Specialized Experience is defined as experience that equipped you with the competencies needed to perform the job duties. Examples of specialized experience are:

  • administering principles, techniques, and/or methodologies of intelligence to conduct research and analysis activities in support of anti-terrorism and/or national securities initiatives.
  • acting as liaison to law enforcement and/or intelligence organizations to coordinate public safety efforts and maintain working relationships with law enforcement partners,
  • preparing a range of written products such as formal reports, information bulletins and/or fact sheets.
  • provides training and/or technical assistance to law enforcement partners, acting as a knowledgeable resource across specialty areas such as anti-terrorism, crime prevention, and/or community safety programs.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. Payment of relocation expenses will not be authorized.
