Treasurer

The Southern California Silver Chapter (SCSC) of the United States Army Warrant Officers Association (USAWOA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Veterans Service Organization founded in 1972. SCSC/USAWOA supports the advancement, representation, and professional development of Warrant Officers across all Army components. As a charter member of The Military Coalition, the association continues to champion initiatives that strengthen the Warrant Officer Corps, promote technical and leadership excellence, and serve the broader military community.

The Treasurer is a part-time, hybrid role based in Southern California with significant work-from-home flexibility. This position is designated for Warrant Officers from any branch of service, with preference given to U.S. Army Warrant Officers, followed by enlisted Soldiers aspiring to become Warrant Officers.

The Treasurer is an appointed position, selected by the Chapter President and serving at the convenience of the President, CW4 (R) Wilson, H. The Treasurer provides stewardship of all Chapter financial activities and ensures compliance, accuracy, and transparency in support of the Chapter’s mission.

• Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, assets, and liabilities in accordance with nonprofit accounting standards.
• Prepare annual budgets, quarterly financial statements, and reports for Executive Board meetings.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including membership dues, donations, and program-related transactions.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state financial regulations, IRS requirements, and internal fiscal policies.
• Support grant management, including monitoring awarded funds, tracking expenditures, and providing data for grant reporting.
• Assist in fundraising initiatives by tracking revenue streams, documenting donor contributions, and providing financial projections.
• Oversee bank account reconciliation, digital and physical financial records, and payment systems.
• Coordinate with external auditors or financial reviewers when required.
• Advise the Executive Board on implications of financial decisions and long-range fiscal planning.

• Demonstrated proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and strategic financial management.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles; nonprofit accounting experience is highly desirable.
• Experience with accounts payable/receivable and preparation of financial statements.
• Familiarity with IRS 501(c)(3) rules and nonprofit compliance obligations.
• Experience supporting grant management or nonprofit fundraising preferred.
• Proficiency with financial management software and digital bookkeeping tools.
• Excellent organizational discipline, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with Board members and partners.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Prior service in a volunteer-led or nonprofit organization is a plus.
