Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assay and Flotation Test Manager to lead our laboratory testing operations focused on mineral processing and metallurgical analysis. This pivotal role involves designing, overseeing, and optimizing assay and flotation experiments to support flotation and geology departments, development, and operational excellence using XRF, wet chemistry techniques, gravimetric fire assay, and flotation testing methodology. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in mining assay techniques and technical expertise in flotation techniques, and a passion for innovation within the mining or mineral processing industry. As a key leader, you will ensure that all testing procedures comply with industry standards and relevant regulatory requirements such as MSHA regulations. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement, foster collaboration across teams, and uphold the highest standards of safety and quality.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and execute assay and flotation tests to evaluate mineral recovery processes and optimize operational parameters.
- Hire and train assay prep technicians as needed.
- Manage laboratory workflows, including sample preparation, data collection, analysis, and documentation.
- Oversee adherence to safety protocols related to laboratory procedures involving XRF, fire assay, and wet chemistry techniques.
- Collaborate closely with research & development teams to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and implement process improvements for flotation techniques.
- Maintain meticulous records of all experiments, results, and quality control measures to support audits and regulatory submissions.
- Drive project management initiatives by coordinating testing schedules, resource allocation, and reporting progress to stakeholders.
Skills
- Extensive experience with some form of assay techniques, XRF and fire assay preferred.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets accurately and efficiently.
- Familiarity with research & development processes within the mining or mineral processing industries.
- Project management expertise to oversee multiple testing projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
- Strong communication skills to document findings clearly and collaborate effectively across departments.
