IT Specialist SysAdmin Tier III

Job Purpose:
- The IT Specialist SysAdmin PD Tier III at the United States Agency for Global Media is responsible for managing and maintaining the agency's IT infrastructure and systems. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of IT systems to support the organization's mission of providing accurate and objective news and information globally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure high availability and performance.
- Implement and manage security protocols to protect the organization's data and systems from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems, providing Tier III support to end-users and other IT staff.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement IT solutions that align with the agency's strategic objectives and operational needs.
- Monitor system performance and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Develop and maintain documentation for IT systems, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and operational continuity.
- Stay updated with the latest technology trends and advancements to recommend and implement innovative solutions that enhance the agency's IT capabilities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior IT staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the team.

Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration or a similar IT support role.
- Proven experience with network management and system security.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking equipment.
- Experience in providing technical support and troubleshooting for complex IT issues.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Unix.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation tasks.
- Excellent understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Ability to manage and configure virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
