Job Summary:
United Staff Group is currently seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating communication between children who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who can hear, ensuring effective understanding and interaction.
Responsibilities:
Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa to facilitate communication.
Communicate messages accurately and clearly between deaf or hard of hearing individuals and hearing individuals.
Provide interpretation services in various settings such as meetings, appointments, educational environments, and more.
Interpret spoken language into sign language using proper grammar and syntax.
Collaborate with clients to ensure their needs are met through effective communication.
Stay updated on linguistic and cultural aspects related to sign language interpretation.
Maintain confidentiality and neutrality throughout interpreting assignments.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential.
Minimum 1 year experience working in school setting.
Strong ability to interpret and translate between ASL and spoken language accurately.
Multilingual skills or proficiency in other sign languages are a plus.
Background in Linguistics or Bilingual studies is beneficial.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and effectively.
GA Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is mandatory.

*Note: Experience in translating, communicating effectively, interpreting accurately, knowledge of Linguistics, being Multilingual, familiarity with American Sign Language, Bilingual proficiency are highly desirable for this position.*
