Position Purpose
The United Soccer League (USL) is seeking a Digital Content Specialist to support the men’s pathway, specifically focused on the professional USL Championship and League One properties. This role produces, edits, and publishes digital content across USL platforms while serving as a secondary communications contact to member clubs. The ideal candidate is a passionate digital creator and editorial writer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands professional soccer operations, and can balance real-time coverage with proactive content planning.

- Write, edit, and publish digital content including league news, club announcements, and match coverage across USL-owned platforms, including the USL Championship and League One websites.
- Serve as a day-to-day communications contact for men’s pathway clubs, ensuring accurate and consistent league messaging.
- Coordinate with clubs on announcements including player transactions and league news.
- Publish press releases and official communications across digital channels.
- Collaborate with League Communications, Social Media, and Creative teams to align content with league priorities and maximize engagement.
- Optimize content for SEO, discoverability, and audience engagement.
- Maintain and update website pages for accuracy and relevance.
- Provide coverage support for matches and league events as needed.
- Assist with other leagues and pathways as needed.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related studies preferred, or equivalent professional work experience and/or combination of both work experience and education.
- 1.5 years of work experience in communications, social media, or digital content creation and/or related training in those fields.
- Excellent communication skills, with exceptional proficiencies in writing and editing.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic and a collaborative, team-first approach.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms and social creation and publishing tools, including Meta Business Manager, Tweet Composer, Canva and Adobe Creative products.
- Ability to work under constant deadline pressure and manage multiple projects.
- Must have the ability to work unconventional hours including weekends and game nights.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, external partners, and media members.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
- Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.
- Must have U.S. work authorization.
Work Environment
Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork.
Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.
Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
