Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Dental Lab Technician and Ceramist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for fabricating and customizing dental prosthetics, crowns, bridges, and other restorations with precision and attention to detail. This role requires a strong understanding of dental materials, anatomy, and laboratory techniques to produce high-quality dental appliances that meet patient needs and clinical specifications. We have five busy practices in and around Richmond, and we expect to receive additional work from other labs as well. We are seeking a technician with experience in crowns and bridges, orthodontic appliances, partials, and dentures.
We are starting a new lab that offers salary plus profit sharing. This opportunity provides significant financial benefits for the right candidate. In practical terms, you will be functioning as a partner in the new lab.
Duties
- Fabricate dental restorations including crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, and onlays using CAD/CAM technology and traditional laboratory techniques.
- Sculpt and stain ceramic restorations to match natural tooth color and morphology.
- Collaborate closely with dentists to interpret prescriptions, specifications, and patient requirements.
- Ensure all laboratory work adheres to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, records, and lab reports in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize medical imaging tools and dental terminology for precise fabrication processes.
- Assist in chairside procedures as needed, including patient assessment and preparation of materials.
- Operate specialized equipment such as micrometers for precise measurements and CAD software for digital design.
- Follow established protocols for infection control and sterilization within the laboratory environment.
- Keep detailed records of lab procedures, material usage, and quality control checks.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental fabrication techniques including ceramic layering, staining, and glazing.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems and digital design software such as Epic or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures related to prosthetic fabrication.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, medical coding, and medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance.
- Ability to interpret dental prescriptions accurately and translate them into functional restorations.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques within a laboratory setting.
- Skilled in the use of precision measurement tools like micrometers for quality assurance.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to produce aesthetically pleasing results that meet clinical specifications.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with dental professionals and team members.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics is a plus. Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
