Primary Purpose
The Vice President, EHS is responsible for leading all environmental, health and safety-related programs,
compliance, and behavior throughout the organization. This work includes risk assessment, incident
prevention and response, operating procedures, training, reporting and governance, and compliance
assurance. The Vice President, EHS partners with the Executive, Operations, and HR leadership teams
to understand their needs and develop actionable strategies toward building a consistent safety culture
throughout the organization.

Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job related skills, experience, education, and certifications. Primary Purpose
The Vice President, EHS is responsible for leading all environmental, health and safety-related programs,
compliance, and behavior throughout the organization. This work includes risk assessment, incident
prevention and response, operating procedures, training, reporting and governance, and compliance
assurance. The Vice President, EHS partners with the Executive, Operations, and HR leadership teams
to understand their needs and develop actionable strategies toward building a consistent safety culture
throughout the organization.
Essential Functions
- Work with senior management (and external specialists as needed) to direct the development an effective nation strategy to assess and mitigate strategic and operational EHS and security related threats/risks, manage crises and incidents, and safeguard the organization.
- Lead overall development of Safety & Health management systems across all business locations, adapting for the inherent operational differences between each.
- Drive continuous improvement of safety behaviors and outcomes by delivering methodologies and tools to effectively mitigate identified risks.
- Leverage a robust set of safety analytics to drive aligned organizational insights and action.
- Develop, implement, and refine communication and training campaigns to educate employees on the importance of effective safety behaviors.
- Build safety capability across the company through both a centralized center of excellence and embedded operating resources.
- Design and execute injury prevention initiatives to inspire the creation of a world-class safety culture and minimize risk.
- Collaborate with business leaders and influence the management of safety resources, projects, and business decisions.
- Oversee the design, delivery, and implementation of compliance management systems that adhere to federal, state, OSHA, DOT, EPA, and local regulations.
- Prepare annual departmental budget and compliance to the budget
- Provide the organization with a clear vision for Safety and Health
- Conduct other special projects and tasks.
- Monitor, interpret, and assess existing or emerging environmental laws, regulations, regulatory policy, and industry practices, determine operational and business impacts and develop, integrate and execute global EHS strategies, policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, processes and actions throughout the business organization to effectively manage applicable or relevant requirements.
- Developing, integrating and executing policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, processes and actions throughout the business organization to drive environmental vision, mission, policy and strategies.
- Functions in a leadership role regarding: agency enforcement actions, regulatory proposals, permitting issues and negotiations, environmental technical, engineering, and science support.
- Design, develop, implement, execute and sustain company-wide environmental permit management and pollution prevention programs.
- Provide the organization with a clear vision for Fleet Safety.
- Provide strategic approach to incident reduction.
- Provide the organization with clear incident reduction strategies to minimize losses.
- Responsible for Fleet Safety Manual development, implementation, and maintenance.
- Assist the regions with their area specific trends and strategies to change the trends.
- Provide technical support on transportation and safety-related issues to operations, sales, and shared services.
- Develop and maintain a good relationship with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies in the USA.
- Provide the organization with a clear vision for DOT Compliance
- Oversee regulatory audits and corrective actions
- Track and report CSA and continuous improvement projects.
- Provide strategic approach to roadside inspection success rate.
- Provide the organization with clear incident reduction strategies to minimize losses.
- Assist the regions with their area specific trends and strategies to change the trends.
- Assist the DOT/Safety Administration team in DQ file compliance.
- Responsible for the Drug and Alcohol Manual development, implementation, and maintenance.
- Provide the organization with a clear vision for a drug-free workplace.
- Oversee regulatory audits and corrective actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
