Domestic Violence Advocate – Domestic Violence Program (DVP)

Location: Windham, CT

Description:

Seeking for Part Time Advocates for our Domestic Violence Program (DVP) located in Windham, CT - Work as part of a team in our 24/7 residential shelter which provides a safe environment to adults and children fleeing domestic violence. You would be a trained certified domestic violence advocate providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy, shelter and hotline coverage. As part of our DVP team you would coordinate services for victims of domestic violence and collaborate with staff to meet their needs. Basic office work such as copying, filing, and organizing material; along with cleaning are required.

Domestic Violence Program

DVP offers services to anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse and provides a diverse array of services including 24/7 emergency shelter, court advocacy assistance, referral and information services, support groups and counseling, case management, recreation, bilingual staff, educational programs for schools and training for professionals throughout Northeastern Connecticut.

Schedule - Windham location

  • Part-time 16 hours per week
  • 1st shift: Friday/Saturday 12:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in relevant human services field, or Associates Degree plus two years appropriate experience
  • Knowledge of area and regional resources.
  • For Bilingual Advocate position: Bilingual English/Spanish required.

United Services, Inc. requires all employees to be vaccinated against influenza annually during flu season prior to start date.

Salary Range: $ $21.50 per hour depending on experience

Bilingual Range $19.96- $22.59 per hour depending on experience
