Job Overview:
A Night Shift Foundry Supervisor manages melting, casting, and pouring operations, and ensures shift safety, productivity, and quality. They oversee hourly operators, troubleshoot equipment bottlenecks, enforce compliance, and bridge communication between daytime management and overnight staff.
Core Responsibilities
- Shift Leadership: Coordinate and manage hourly foundry operators. Lead pre-shift safety/toolbox talks and delegate daily casting/furnace assignments.
- Production Oversight: Monitor equipment (e.g., induction furnaces, molding lines) to ensure casting processes meet specifications and quotas. Minimize scrap rates and adjust production workflows to accommodate priority orders.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to PPE standards, OSHA regulations, and company safety protocols. Ensure the 5S/housekeeping standards are maintained on the floor at all times.
- Quality Control: Ensure operators follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during melting, pouring, and pit practices. Verify that casted products meet tolerance and customer requirements.
- Training & Development: Onboard new operators, conduct training on correct work methods, and cross-train team members on different foundry machines.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate shift logs, record downtime and production metrics, and conduct performance or disciplinary discussions when necessary.

- Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on foundry or heavy manufacturing experience, ideally with previous supervisory experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metallurgy, induction/vacuum furnace operations, core making, and pouring/pit practices.
- Skills: Ability to read blueprints and utilize shop math, strong mechanical aptitude, and familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
- Physical & Environmental Demands: Must be comfortable standing, walking, and working in extreme temperatures, high-heat, and loud environments for the duration of the night shift
