Armed Security Officer – Medical Facility Security (Pittsburgh, PA)

United Protection & Security Service (UPSS) is seeking highly reliable, experienced, and vigilant Armed Security Officers to protect a medical facility in Pittsburgh, PA. This position requires mature professionals who exercise excellent judgment, follow strict protocols, and maintain safety in a sensitive, high‐responsibility healthcare environment.

Officers must be prepared to respond appropriately to incidents involving aggressive or disruptive patients, using lawful, measured, and effective de‐escalation techniques while maintaining safety for all individuals on site.

Schedule

Monday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Tuesday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Candidates must be available for all scheduled days and ready to start immediately.

What You’ll Do

General Security Duties

• Patrol and secure the medical facility, including entrances, hallways, patient areas, and parking lots
• Maintain constant alertness and monitor all activity to ensure the safety of patients, staff, visitors, and property
• Enforce all site‐specific medical facility safety and security protocols
• Manage access control, verify identification, and monitor entry/exit points
• Respond promptly and appropriately to incidents, disturbances, medical emergencies, or security threats
• Handle situations involving aggressive or combative patients using proper de‐escalation, verbal intervention, and lawful response techniques
• Be prepared to take immediate and appropriate action in the event of safety issues or escalating behavior
• Complete accurate incident reports and daily activity logs
• Maintain high visibility to deter unauthorized or suspicious activity
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, facility administrators, medical staff, and visitors
• Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and attitude at all times
• Carry and handle a firearm safely, responsibly, and in full compliance with Pennsylvania law and UPSS policy

Position Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Minimum 2 years of verifiable security, law enforcement, or related experience
• Must remain alert and attentive at all times while on duty
• Must have a licensed firearm, full duty gear, and a valid Pennsylvania Act 235 Certification upon hire
• Must be reliable, punctual, and ready to work immediately
• Must have a reliable vehicle and a valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work the full Monday–Friday schedule listed above
• Strong communication and customer‐service skills
• High attention to detail and situational awareness
• Ability to follow direction, protocol, and chain‐of‐command
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to meet physical job requirements (standing, walking, patrolling)

Must Pass

• Background check
• Child Abuse Clearance (if required by the medical facility)
• Random drug screenings
