Position Summary
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors and plays a critical role in maintaining efficient front office operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, both in person and on the phone.
- Answer incoming calls using proper telephone etiquette while maintaining a consistent and polite tone.
- Schedule patient appointments accurately and efficiently.
- Check patients in and out, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
- Collect co-pays and outstanding balances in accordance with office policies.
- Register new patients and update demographic and insurance information as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
- Facilitate patient flow by communicating patient arrival, delays, and updates with clinical staff.
- Respond promptly to patient inquiries, messages, and requests.
- Process medical records requests in compliance with privacy regulations.
- Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality—attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Provide exceptional, patient-centered customer service, ensuring every interaction reflects professionalism and care.
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of medical front desk or medical office experience required.
- Minimum of 1 year of phone/customer service experience required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service with a compassionate and friendly demeanor.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR systems preferred.
