GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Controller is responsible for the management and oversight of all financial operations, including corporate accounting, regulatory reporting, and budget preparation. This role drives financial risk management and the development of internal control policies to ensure organizational fiscal health. This position serves as a key strategic partner to leadership, providing data-driven insights to guide business planning and operational efficiency.
CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition
- Supervises and mentors employees performing financial reporting, accounting, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties
- Coordinates and directs financial planning, procurement, and investment activities to align with company objectives
- Prepares and issues timely monthly financial statements, business activity reports, and financial position forecasts
- Develops and analyzes standard costing and Bill of Materials (BOM) to ensure manufacturing accuracy
- Analyzes actual manufacturing costs and prepares detailed reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Leads the year-end audit process and coordinates with external auditors for physical inventory observations
- Oversees and maintains the integrity of IT business systems in coordination with internal and outsourced support
- Manages the timely renewal and administration of the company insurance program
- Provides financial direction and assistance to other organizational units regarding accounting and budgeting policies
- Drives continuous improvement by developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controls
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in management capacity, is required. A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job-specific certification(s) (such as a CPA or CMA), and experience (including military service) may be considered. Must possess advanced knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting, and financial reporting. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite applications, specifically advanced Excel, is required, along with significant experience navigating complex ERP systems. Must be results-oriented and able to work effectively with divergent types of people. Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear). Driving is a requirement for this position. Must have the ability to travel both domestically and internationally, so the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle and maintain a driver’s license are required. Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. Overnight domestic and international travel required.
