Tooling Engineer

*Role:

• Support injection mold tooling projects, including the design, receipt, transfer, installation, and commissioning of injection molds, automation end-of-arm tooling, assembly fixtures, and manufacturing aids.
• Assist with injection mold tooling and automated molding-system validation, including writing, reviewing, and executing validation documents.
• Support injection mold and equipment start-up, troubleshooting, installation, and process improvement activities.
• Provide technical expertise on injection mold design and operation to Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
• Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for injection molds, end-of-arm tools, assembly fixtures, and manufacturing aids.
• Maintain injection mold and hot-runner drawings and control documentation revisions, including drawings, CAD files, bills of materials, and related records.
• Support quality investigations and engineering document updates, including issue reviews, nonconformance reports, corrective and preventive actions, and change requests.
• Manage tooling inventory, spare steel, consumables, incoming-tool documentation, and inventory updates.
• Track tooling vendors, milestone dates, project progress, delays, and inbound and outbound shipments.
• Assist with the design, documentation, and fabrication of custom tooling, parts, and fixtures to support production.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customers, suppliers, and vendors to meet project requirements and customer needs.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability initiatives.
• Work Monday through Friday on a day shift.
• Travel up to 5%, or up to 13 business days per year.
• Perform equipment acceptance testing, required gowning, and work within an ISO 7/8 cleanroom.

*Most Important Skills Needed:

• Injection mold tooling design, operation, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Injection molding automation, end-of-arm tooling, assembly fixtures, metrology fixtures, and manufacturing aids.
• SolidWorks proficiency and experience creating or updating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Validation documentation and execution for injection mold tooling and automated molding systems.
• GD&T concepts and detailed technical drawing creation.
• Tooling inventory, vendor coordination, documentation control, and project tracking.
• Experience designing, fabricating, assembling, or servicing complex injection molding tools.
• Manufacturing environment experience, particularly with plastic injection molding.
• Simple electronic wiring assemblies and sensor systems.
• Regulated GMP or GLP environment experience.
• Lean Manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability concepts.
• Analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• SAP S/4 HANA experience is a plus.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, an equivalent four-year technical degree, or commensurate work experience.
• Zero to three years of experience in an engineering capacity.
