Position Summary
We’re looking for a skilled Asphalt Paver Operator to join our paving crew. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating paving machines and working alongside a cohesive team to produce smooth, high-quality asphalt surfaces.
This position is critical to the success of each paving project, requiring strong attention to detail, solid communication skills, and a focus on safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt paving machines and related equipment to place asphalt on roads, parking lots, and sitework projects.
- Maintain consistent paving speed, mat depth, temperature, and compaction to meet specifications.
- Work closely with dump truck drivers to ensure steady material flow.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and minor maintenance; report any issues immediately.
- Coordinate with the paving crew, foreman, and superintendent to meet production goals.
- Follow all company, local, and OSHA safety standards.
- Assist with general paving and cleanup duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating an asphalt paver in civil or commercial paving.
- Strong understanding of paving operations, asphalt materials, and finish quality requirements.
- Ability to read and understand grades and project layout plans.
- Familiarity with paving mix temperatures, rolling patterns, and compaction standards.
- Physically capable of performing outdoor work in varying conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and consistent quality workmanship.
Preferred Experience
- Experience operating Caterpillar & Leeboy paving machines.
- Ability to operate rollers, skid steers, and other paving support equipment.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay & Schedule:
- Competitive hourly wage: $30.00 – $40.00/hour (DOE)
- Weekly pay
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (occasional overtime or weekend work as needed)
